Beautiful Poster
If I Can't Be Beautiful
Client: Self
what?: Poster Design, Photo Manipulation
Info: I designed this poster using a quote from Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk, author of Fight Club and Survivor. I decided on using a thick slab-serif for the title text because I wanted the main character's narcissistic phrase to leap off of the surface and proclaim its philosophy proudly. I edited a male model's face from a local photoshoot to create the center illustration and used a desaturated (read dull) color scheme to imply the character's disconnection from the vibrancy of life. "If I can't be beautiful, I want to be invisible."
Info: The beginning of the process was finding a creepy enough model's face to edit. The original photo credit goes to Annette and Vii Tanner of Tanner Photography.
Info: The process continues..."If I can't be beautiful, I want to be invisible."

ModCafé
A New Way to Package Coffee
Client: Mod Café
what?: Package Design, Branding
Info: I chose this typeface for it’s tall letterforms with bold strokes and slanted extenders which, to me, scream modernity and newness. When drawing the steaming cup illustration, simplicity and curved lines were at the forefront of my thoughts. Modern Design meets The Café--it has attached itself to the side claiming the café as another of its children and forming an evolved version of the coffeehouse experience.
Info: Twelve colors designate a different color per roast variety. Black text on the box design indicates a regular roast while white text signals decaf. Shades of brown, orange, grey, and purple denote the darker, heavier roasts while lighter colors like yellow, peach, green and sky blue mark the lighter roasts.
Info: One consistent brown is used on every package. The third background color is a half-and-half blend of the base brown and the changing variety color. Red, white, and black provide legible contrast on all of the varying color labels.
Info: “Bouillon-cube” styled coffee blocks contain precise measurements of compacted gourmet instant coffee granules. ModCafe appeals to both the casual instant coffee drinker and the experienced coffee connoisseur by offering the choice of pre-measured gourmet roasts available in the comfort of one’s home.
American Psycho
American Psycho
Client: Vintage Contemporaries
what?: Book Cover Design
Info: This illustration utilizes the minimal approach to a drawing a shadowy figure. I chose an unconventional method of layering type on top of itself to evoke a "psycho" feeling and simplified a photograph of a friend's eyes.

Typographic Design
Client: Toni International Guy International Atlanta (TIGI Hair Products)
what?: Book Cover Design
Info: Every Monday for 6 weeks I met with the owner of Toni and Guy International Atlanta (TIGI Hair Products) to discuss this book design. He first approached me with 179 descriptive words I was to incorporate into the design somehow. Another task was to make it appear that the Toni and Guy Logo was at the heart of many smaller words and phrases and to translate this into a sort of "family tree". After much hard work, I gave him this design. "This is perfect." was his reply.
Info: I was given access to the Tanner Photography library and I chose some of my favorite Tanner Photography images for this design.

Info: This is one of the more contemporary approached to ad design I utilized while at Tanner Photography. It was comforting to know that I can effectively advertise for photography services without the use of photography.
WonderRoot
What is the WonderRoot? a
Client: WonderRoot (1 of 4)
what?: Good ol' 2D Design
Info: WonderRoot, who are an unbelievable talented group of young non-profiteers who've devoted their time to enriching the Atlanta arts community, needed an updated flier to help announce their new community center. As the lucky designer who has a new, rent-free studio within WonderRoot, I jumped at the opportunity to show them what I could do for them creatively. They proved to be the best client I've ever had. Here is, basically, the design brief for what they wanted: "Take this paragraph of information about WonderRoot and make it cool." I used a picture of a young woman taken in the late 1930s hard at work at "something" for my background image. I then developed a muted palette taken from sampling colors in the photo and established a simple grid in which to confine myself. They liked what I came up with.

coreINTERNATIONAL
coreINTERNATIONAL
Client: WE Design
what?: Logo and Animation
Info: This illustration is of the "core" of the earth. This symbol dominated all media involved with the event, coreINTERNATIONAL. It was used online, in print, and as an animation.
coreINTERNATIONAL
Client: WE Design
what?: Poster Design, Web Blast, Logo, Web Page
Info: At the event coreINTERNATIONAL, the promoters raffled a martini cart and requested that a sign be designed to advertise that the chances of winning the cart could be increased by purchasing additional tickets. This sign features a simple 2-d illustration of the martini cart in use as an typographic element of the letter "i".
Info: Placing an emphasis on the venue was important to this new and developing client. coreINTERNATIONAL is the name of a one night event at a popular downtown Atlanta nightclub. The poster advertises the first event WE Design has ever hosted: a fashion show, a display featuring over 40 artist works, and 6 rotating DJs playing throught the night. The illustration of the "core" of the earth is somewhat downplayed but also prominent in its repated usage as a background image and as a corner mark.
